Two Cousins Turning Three

You may remember that about this time last year, I posted about birthdays for two of Matthew's cousins who were born on the exact same day. Today, they both turned three, so we had a weekend full of birthday parties. Thought I'd share some of the fun....

First, on Saturday, James' party.....

And then, today, Noah's birthday....

Happy Birthday, Boys!

Take Me Back Tuesday

Taken: June 9, 1963
Place: Holy Trinity High, Hartford

As we were out and about this weekend, we saw lots of graduation parties going on. Made me think of this picture, so I thought I'd share it. This is my mother and my great aunt (her aunt), following my mother's high school graduation. I remember always thinking that my mother looked so very serious in this picture. Not quite how my graduation pictures looked. I guess 12 years of Catholic school gives you a little different perspective.

Didn't Tzizi's hat rock?

Best thing yet

For anyone who's talked to me in, say, the last 6 months or so, you know that my response when asked how Matthew is doing is "He's doing great, but he's not walking yet". It's always top of mind for me, and even with the reassurance of his pediatrician that everything is fine, I couldn't help but wonder if there was something keeping him from walking. Of course, you always hear that every child develops differently, but you just want for your child to breeze through all developmental milestones.

Well, I should have known that in his own time, Matthew would decide it was time to walk. It finally happened on Friday night. We got home shortly before Dennis, so we waited outside for him. We walked up and down the driveway, Matthew holding on with one hand. When Dennis got home, we all went inside, Dennis carrying Matthew. He put him down just inside the kitchen door, and Matthew went to take Dennis' hand, but it wasn't there. So, he just proceeded to walk across the kitchen into the living room. We just looked at each other in awe.

He was so excited that all he wanted to do was walk around. I shot a bunch of videos - here's one of my favorites.

Tardy Take Me Back Tuesday

Taken: 1985
Place: Saint Philip the Apostle Church, Warrenville

This was taken in the Church hall after my Confirmation. Monsignor West (Father West at the time) had recently been reassigned to another parish, but he came back for our Confirmation, and we were thrilled. No big story to tell, really. Just one of very few pictures I have with my mother, sister, brother and I all together.
